Edition 21, Week 31: Updates, Updates, Updates
Welcome back for another edition of the Sunday Report! Edition 21!
I hope all of you had a great weekend! I certainly did! Made quite some discoveries this weekend which will make Asobi and Asobi 2.0 much much more interesting. Can't share more yet, beyond what you might've already read in the Midweek report
Asobi for Apple
Version 1.4.2 will bring in some much needed fixes, one of which is to bring latency down some more. Also, some of you had a bug where Asobi showed you the wrong PS+ games list -> this is fixed with this update. Other than that you'll see controller navigation updates (highlights), some video pipeline updates and Mac finally getting the 2D->3D update.
One other thing of note, my new parity list seems to work well, since I'm no longer getting questions about missing games. Even Halo showed up on time for those who pre-ordered it.
I might add a couple of unexpected features with this update, that is, if my research findings are conclusive. 🤞
Version 1.4.2 is scheduled for release in week 31.
Asobi for Android
As you might've noticed, Version 1.0.7/8 dropped and added support for Android 11, PS3 & PS4 games and instant start for remote play + some basic video pipeline optimisations. Feedback has been good, but I still have some bugs to squash.
In the meantime I've been preparing version 1.0.9 which will have some big video pipeline optimisations that will make it much more reliable (most of it is done btw). Next to that you'll see much improved HDR tone-mapping, better colour all around actually and better general support for all Android devices.
This also means that I can finally start work on the Android TV version.
Version 1.0.9 is scheduled for release in week 31 (it'been moved up one week)
Asobi for Steam
Still no news from Steam, I've tried to nudge them a couple of times but no response. Either they have a giant backlog or there's something I'm missing. Either way, we just keep on trucking, it'll launch on Steam eventually.
Progress is being made on the self-published version, which I aim to release in August. There's still a couple of things I need to set up in relation to licensing but it's just a matter of time before that lands.
Incidentally, the Steam Machine is on its way and should be here soon 👀
I'll keep you guys posted!
Midori for Apple (r/MidoriApp)
As expected, version 1.0.2 initially got rejected with questions about cloud streaming. It's back in review and will most likely be available tomorrow. It's almost here 😄
Either way, lots to do! I certainly hope I'll still bee to surprise you with Asobi and Midori by bringing something truly next level for Remote/Cloud Play.
