Edition 22, Week 32: Can you feel it?
Sunday Report! Edition 22! Another big milestone for PlayStation Remote Play has been achieved!
As you may know, I've been in touch with some of the key figures in the PS Remote Play scene. Last week the OG u/grill2010 checked in with me, asking if I knew anything about the Saros adaptive triggers issue that's been going around.
Issue is that none of the current Third-Party Remote Play apps have this properly functioning, but the official one does! I couldn't let him down, so I said I'd get on it, and now a couple of days later it's not only fixed, but:
We now have full 1:1 adaptive trigger parity for PlayStation Remote Play! 🔥🔥🔥
I've shared the fix with u/grill2010 as well, which means that not only will this ship with version 1.4.2 of Asobi, it will also come to PXPlay (r/PSPlay) soon!
Many thanks to grill for poking me about this, else this would've been parked for a long time.
As I see it, a milestone for third-parote play apps, and for me since I get to contribute a tiny bit of code to PXPlay.
Besides this, a lot more has been happening behind the scenes.
I have a truly next gen update coming very soon to Midori, which will bring something no-one has done before. You'll see what I mean when it ships! 🔥🔥🔥
Other than that, I've been working on a definitive solution for solving CGNAT and general connection issues. Thank you who responded to my post, I'll be in touch with you tomorrow.
The Meta Quest PlayTest is starting in week 32 as well, and will hopefully have a full release the week after! Really looking forward to the response! I just hope it won't disappoint.
What to expect for the next releases:
Asobi for Apple
As you might know version 1.4 delayed again. For good reason, I'm currently working on integrating TURN servers which will help those who have connection issues via Internet Remote Play.
For the update expect fully native adaptive trigger support on DualSense controllers, updated app navigation controls, TURN server support, PSN sign-in optimisations, new recently played cards and widgets, 3D for Mac and a lot of bugfixes!
Version 1.4.2 for Apple is scheduled for release in week 32.
Asobi for Android
Version 1.0.9 was shipped in week 31 with some much needed video pipeline optimisations and work on version 1.1 has started, which should finally implement 3D support among others.
For those Samsung users using DeX, I have a Fold 8 arriving next week so I can finetune that experience.
Version 1.1 for Android is scheduled for release in week 33.
Asobi for Steam
Crickets from Steam, I've now sent in some support tickets for both the PlayTest and production version of Asobi, let's hope I hear something in week 32.
I've put in considerable time to make Asobi work as a self-published version, but I'm not done as of yet. There's still a lot of testing that needs to be done. I'm aiming to release it this month.
Also the Steam Machine arrived! Which is quite a dope little machine. The new Steam controller is a must!
Midori for Apple (r/MidoriApp)
Version 1.0.2 and Version 1.0.3 of Midori dropped last week and my latest post was very well received by the r/xcloud community. 3D support and the aforementioned next-gen should drop soon together with loads of bug-fixes. Also shoutout to u/Few-Oil-6886 for all the fantastic feedback! You're the best!
In closing
July has been an insane little month, especially with all the discoveries I've made around PlayStation Remote Play, the only challenge left is implementing all of this. That and the amount of ideas I have to expand on what I've found. With each release I try to bring some of what I found into that. I just hope you guys will love it.
And as always thank you all for your fantastic support! And keep those feature requests, bug reports and everything coming! You're helping make these apps truly next-gen!
