Introduction
Asobi Remote Play ("we", "our", or "the app") is a PlayStation® Remote Play client that allows you to stream gameplay from your PlayStation® console to your Apple devices. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- PlayStation® Network Credentials: When you sign in with your PSN account for internet play or cloud streaming features, we process your authentication tokens. These tokens have limited scopes restricted to remote play and cloud streaming functionality and are stored securely on your device. In some features, tokens may be sent to our proxy service solely to complete requests to Sony in real time. We do not store these tokens or associated personal data, and we redact logs.
- Console Registration Data: PIN codes and registration credentials used to pair with your PlayStation® console are stored locally on your device.
- Console Information: IP addresses, console names, and connection settings are stored locally to enable connectivity.
Information Collected Automatically
- Network Information: Local network data necessary to discover and connect to your PlayStation® console.
- Device Information: Basic device capabilities to optimize streaming quality (e.g., display refresh rate, supported codecs).
How We Use Your Information
All information is used exclusively to:
- Establish and maintain connections with your PlayStation® console
- Authenticate with PlayStation® Network for internet play and cloud streaming features
- Store your preferences and settings locally
- Optimize streaming performance for your device
Data Storage and Security
- On-Device Storage: Your saved consoles, settings, and credentials are stored locally on your device.
- Proxy Processing (Some Features): For certain PlayStation® Network features, requests may be routed through our proxy service to complete calls to Sony in real time. The proxy does not store authentication tokens or PSN personal data.
- Logging: We do not log authentication tokens. Any operational logs (e.g., errors, performance) are redacted to remove tokens and are retained only as long as necessary for reliability and abuse prevention.
- iCloud Sync: PSN account information may sync across your devices via iCloud if you have iCloud enabled. This is handled by Apple's infrastructure.
- Encryption: All streaming data between your device and console is encrypted using industry-standard protocols (AES-128-CTR, GMAC).
Third-Party Services
The app communicates with:
- PlayStation® Network: For authentication, internet play, and cloud streaming features. Your use of PSN is subject to Sony's privacy policy.
- Sony Cloud Gaming (Gaikai): For PS Cloud and PS Now streaming. Sessions are allocated through Sony's cloud infrastructure.
- Your PlayStation® Console: Direct peer-to-peer communication for streaming.
We do not use advertising or tracking services within the app.
Website Analytics: Our website (asobiapp.com) uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. No analytics are collected within the app itself.
Face Tracking (ARKit / TrueDepth)
Asobi: Remote Play uses Apple's ARKit face tracking API on devices equipped with a TrueDepth front camera (iPhone X and later, iPad Pro 2018 and later) for one specific purpose: to drive a third-party autostereoscopic lenticular screen-protector accessory. When this feature is active, the app receives the 3D position of the viewer's eyes relative to the front camera from ARKit. The app uses only the distance between the device and the viewer's eyes, and the on-screen position of the midpoint between the eyes, to compute the correct per-frame pixel pattern for the lenticular display.
We do not capture or store any image from the front camera. We do not store, transmit, or share the face geometry, eye positions, distance values, or any other information derived from the TrueDepth API. The data exists only in volatile memory for the duration of a single rendered frame and is then discarded. No face data ever leaves the device. No third party (including our own servers, analytics providers, or crash-reporting services) ever receives any face data or any value derived from it.
The TrueDepth API is not used for identification, authentication, age estimation, profiling, advertising, or any analytics purpose.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your information. Your data is transmitted directly to Sony or via our proxy solely to service a request. We do not share your authentication tokens or PSN personal data with third parties.
Your Rights and Choices
- Delete Data: You can delete all app data by removing the app from your device or clearing app data in Settings.
- Credentials: PSN credentials can be removed by signing out of your account within the app.
- Console Pairings: You can remove saved consoles at any time within the app.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
