Edition 25, Week 35: Ready Player 2, 3 and 4
Welcome to edition 25 of the Sunday Report!
I've made quite some progress in the last week, not only did I release updates for the Meta Quest PlayTest, Midori version 1.0.4 and of course Asobi for Apple version 1.4.3. I've also managed to get 4 player co-op via PS4 remote play, PS4 cloud game management and my Asobi for Windows client up and running.
So much to bring to remote/cloud play, so little time.
Especially getting 4 player co-op working for PS4 remote play sessions is a big first for third-party remote play clients.
That said, I've now set my sights on getting PS5 co-op up and running, which as some of you might know supports up to 4 players as well. So stay tuned, I might have some news soon.
This might result in not releasing my split-screen solution for Asobi and Midori since it's now superseded by something better in my opinion. What do you think?
There's still loads to add, such as support for messaging, party chat and more. My promise is still the same, to bring the true next level of remote play to you, the players!
Either way, stay tuned! I have quite some stuff coming in! Let's revolutionise remote play!
Asobi for Apple
Work on version 1.4.4 has been started, and I'm going to try to release it before the end of week 35.
Plan is to work on background streaming, updates to internet remote play, some performance tuning and the release of 4 player co-op for all Apple platforms, including 4 Player co-op via SharePlay like Midori does since its latest release.
Work has also started per game on custom input layouts, where I will also set up a platform where you can share your layouts with others.
More on all this soon!
Asobi for Android
Plan is to bring release version 1.1 for Android in week 35.
It should bring performance enhancements, updates to internet remote play, DeX support, and 2D->3D realtime conversion
Asobi for Steam
There should be quite a few updates coming in week 35. But the main one will be the release of the Windows version, which is planned for tomorrow. I'll post on r/Asobi when it's available. Just working on the last couple of bugs. After that I'll try to push daily updates to get ready for the full release on the Steam store, so fingers crossed!
Asobi for Meta Quest
I've actually managed to increase performance for realtime 2D->3D support on the Meta Quest. But I will limit it to 720p with the next update. Apart from that I'm going to make some interface adjustments to get it ready for the full release which is currently planned for either week 35 or week 36.
Midori for Apple (r/MidoriApp)
Last but not least, I'm working on a performance update for Midori with version 1.0.5 and after that I'll start bringing more features, such as the new color filters, 3D modes and more!
Version 1.0.5 of Midori is planned for week 35.
