Answers to frequently asked questions about Asobi.

Getting Started

What do I need to use Asobi?

You need:

  • A PS4 or PS5 console with Remote Play enabled
  • An Apple device (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, or Vision Pro)
  • Both devices on the same Wi-Fi network (for local play)
  • A Bluetooth controller (recommended but not required)
How do I get the registration PIN?

On PS5: Settings → System → Remote Play → Link Device

On PS4: Settings → Remote Play Connection Settings → Add Device

The PIN is valid for 300 seconds (5 minutes).

Why can't the app find my console?
  • Make sure your PlayStation® is turned on (not in rest mode for first setup)
  • Ensure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network
  • Check that Remote Play is enabled in PlayStation® settings
  • Try restarting both your console and Apple device

Controllers

Which controllers are supported?
  • DualSense - Full haptics, adaptive triggers, motion
  • DualShock 4 - Complete support
  • Xbox controllers - All Bluetooth models
  • Backbone One - Enhanced integration

How do I pair my DualSense?
  1. Hold the PS button + Create button until the light bar flashes
  2. Go to your device's Bluetooth settings
  3. Select "DualSense Wireless Controller"
Do haptics and adaptive triggers work?

Yes! Full DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive trigger effects work over Bluetooth on all platforms. This includes the nuanced haptic sensations and variable trigger resistance that games use.

Can I use motion controls?

Yes, full gyroscope and accelerometer support with drift correction. You can recalibrate motion controls during streaming if needed.

Video & Audio

What's the maximum frame rate?

PlayStation® streams at up to 60fps. Asobi can interpolate this to 120fps on devices with ProMotion displays (iPhone 13 Pro+, MacBook Pro, Vision Pro).

Does Asobi support HDR?

Yes, Asobi supports HDR streaming with Dolby Vision and HDR10 on compatible displays. This includes MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, Apple TV 4K, and Vision Pro.

Why is my video choppy or laggy?
  • Connect your PlayStation® via Ethernet (most important)
  • Use 5GHz Wi-Fi instead of 2.4GHz
  • Move closer to your router
  • Lower the bitrate in console settings
  • Close bandwidth-heavy apps on your network
What bitrate should I use?

It depends on your network:

  • Excellent network: 30-50 Mbps
  • Good network: 15-30 Mbps
  • Moderate network: 8-15 Mbps
  • Weak connection: 2-8 Mbps

Start with Auto and adjust if needed.
