Edition 27, Week 37: どこですか?
みなさん、こんにちは!(Hello, everyone!)
Welcome to a special edition of the Sunday Report: The Japan Edition!
As you might know I'm currently working from Tokyo for the next couple of weeks, which means I'll be hanging out with you guys at very different times in the day. Luckily I have some help from the mods to help you guys wherever I can't.
In the meantime development might be a bit slower since I have a couple of very important meetings and a TGS (Tokyo Game Show) to attend.
For those attending TGS let me know (I'm there on the 17th and 18th), we might be able to meet and catch up!
Although development has a bit of a slowdown, there's a few quality updates dropping in week 37: Starting with build 11 for Steam, which should drop tomorrow evening, build 12 somewhat later in the week. Also, the next big update for Asobi for Apple should drop before next weekend.
So what's in store you might ask?
Asobi for Steam
Let's start with Steam: The original plan was to launch Build 11 last Friday, sadly due to switching phones and my Steam Authenticator I wasn't able to publish it yet due to Steam security measures. (have to wait 72 hours, because of the switch)
Build 11 will have some quality of life bug fixes for those who are having issues starting Asobi, the screen filters from Asobi's Apple version have been ported as well and there's a few user interface updates among others.
The plan for Build 12 is to add quite a few updates to PS5 cloud streaming and potentially all the co-op remote play options for PS5 and PS4 (which has been added since build 6) with a nice interface for adding and removing players.
Asobi for Apple
As announced last week, the new internet remote play implementation (it connected great from Japan to Europe), you'll be seeing the co-op addition for PS4/PS5 via remote play, the new Virtual Controller update (super excited about this one) and some big cloud gaming updates! When that one's out I'll shift my focus to PS4 cloud reliability
It's going to be great!
Asobi for Android
Work on version 1.1.1 has been started, plan is to finally add Samsung DeX support, realtime 2D->3D conversion, the screen filters from the Apple version and loads of quality of life updates. Apart from that, work has started on the Android TV version.
Asobi for Meta Quest
I've recently added some great additions with the latest update and preparing everything for launch. I'm just waiting for Meta to give me the go ahead! More soon!
Midori for Apple
Now that the performance update is out, I'll be focusing on adding a lot of features from Asobi. Such as the realtime 2D->3D conversion, screen filters, Vision Pro 3D optimisation, the CRT TV and much much more! Oh and the interface will get some more updates! I'll keep you guys posted! Once I've achieved a bit more parity, I'll start work on the Android version of Midori.
Would you be interested in some .. 4K Remote Play?
As you know, I'm doing quite some research into remote and cloud play. Last week I stumbled upon the PlayStation encoder actually having the ability to deliver 4K Remote Play!
I'm not sure how deep this rabbit hole goes, but I'll keep you in the loop! Kinda exciting right? Sadly this kind of research takes time, but I'll know more soon enough as to how far I can go with this.
Either way, lots to do! Thank you all again for your continued support! The goal is still to make Asobi the best Remote & Cloud Play client in the world, but I can't do it without you. So keep those bug reports and feedback coming!
じゃあ、またね! (See you later!)
